The Secretary for George Lewis having had under consideration the case of Thomas Wilford, a convict at Portland, who was sentenced to 4 years penal servitude at Canton in May 1858, I am directed to acquaint you that he has felt warranted in advising Her Majesty to allow a period of seven months passed by the convict in jail before being sentenced to count as portion of his sentence, and I am to request that he be dealt with accordingly;
